ETSY - hobby or business? -

Ok, so I am toying with the idea of opening an Etsy shop; however--- I am puzzled by the mere fact that I wonder if I would then be considered a BUSINESS of sorts? which leads to paying taxes etc..... I believe there is a minimum or maximum (whatever) that one is allotted BEFORE having to pay into taxes...... If anyone has insight to this - I would appreciate it! I know there is a website for small businesses and it is far too confusing for me to dig around on this site for information that I need! So..... yes, I guess I should have thought of this BEFORE I started to get so excited about cranking out all those darn purty stitch markers! Far too many stitch markers for me to be able to use in one lifetime! ahahahhha! Hmmm...any ideas/tips?
