FIRST Open W.Htfd Walk:
Ok, the first open west hartford walk.... Mega temperatures, and an entire day spent out with the dog...but, it was well worth it!
The class was at 11:00 and the walk was not until 2:30...so that meant lunch out with the dog. She did very well at McD's...as a matter of fact, she stayed in her "down and under" position (under my chair) for the entire time with no disruptions.
The open walk was a little challenging because she was surrounded by an entire tribe of her kind...different ages/sizes/temperments....however she did not RAISE one hair on her back and she appeared to be very relaxed....so, what's so challenging about that?
Well, the walking part was tough, she did pull quite a bit. There were some moments where she would let up and walk without much tension on the leash...so I am quite hopeful for a more controlled walk next time. Fortunately we still have plenty of time to work on these skills!
